Whats it all about then?

Basically, its another collection of pointless links mostly nicked from other blogs

Is That It?

Well, no, one day, I hope to break free from the bonds of having a day job and spend my time floating round the med, knocking up the occasional track for a cool label. Till then, this is my only outlet for my compositions. If you like Progressive tracks with nice breaks, you might like to listen you my latest, finished creation...well, actually, its my only *finished* creation, Celestial. Download the MP3, Or stream it.

The excellent vocals (in case you're wondering) were taken from a track by Loreena McKennitt called 'The Mystics Dream'.

One of the problems I have is actually finishing a track... No stamina y'see ;) I've got round this (sorta) by stuffing all my unfinished tracks into Acid and creating one long mix. Whilst unfinished, they also represent the best stuff I've produced to date...without sounding self-congratulatory, its easily as good as any of the other mixes...but just pure, homegrown Roguetrooper. Enjoy...(and play loud)

The track I'm working on at the moment is a bit of a departure for me. Normally I don't like long intros, but the beginning to Gravity developed into this dark, broody soundscape. Its a full 4 mins till any proper percussion kicks in which sounds a long time, but its just right for the track (currently running at 12 mins). Anyway, you can Stream the MP3 hopefully... or download it(11Mb)

Heres what happens when you use Acid Pro as an mp3 sequencer..nearly an hour of beats n breaks. Have a listen to Methodical or download it. Want some more? heres another with Leftfield and Hybrid (to mention a few). You can download this too if you like.

Think I'm going to have to find a more permanent home for the mixes and stuff. judging by the amount of stuff I'm churning out of the Triton... Anyway, heres the Adam Freeland stuff mix from below on the blog...nice trancy, break filled mix that hardens somewhat towards the end when Joujouka arrive..However, its still only 135BPM and doesn't disrupt the flow too much...
Same as usual, you can stream it or download it...beware though, its 20Mb. Sounds best about 4am Sunday morning. Enjoy.

I was looking through my mp3 collection the other day and came across some depeche mode stuff I never realised I had. Perfect excuse to mix a few tracks up in acid and give the Basildon boys a breakbeat flavour. Its still a work in progress at the mo, but I've since discovered that DM and Breaks were made for each other. Have a listen and you'll hear what I mean. Download or Stream

You have to hand it to the NHS... somtimes they can be spectacularly buracratic.

I've not been having a good couple of weeks health-wise with 'kidley inflections', a nasty 2 week virus and finally, an infection in my jaw this week. I've managed to keep the virus under control with a nice cocktail of ibruprofen, solpadol and co-codamol, but the inection in my jaw wasn't going to get any better until I went to the dentist to get some anti-biotics.

Lesson No:1 Make sure you visit your dentist at least once in 15 months.

Apparently, if you don't visit your dentist within this timescale, you are automatically de-registered. The dentist is under no obligation to remind you that your registration is about to lapse either (and they didn't). So here I was, throbbing jaw, no dentist.

The nice receptionist who told me it wasnt her job to remind patients about their registration very kindly gave me the number of the emergency dentist at my local hospital that I should "ring at 6pm to make an appointment".

Lesson No:2 Never try to get NHS nurses to see the logic in the point you are making. 6/10 NHS nurses are robots programmed only to obey (and sometimes destroy).

At 6pm sharp, I rung the emergency dentist at my local hospital to make an appointment. Everything was going well right up until I gave the nurse my postcode. "sorry" she said "you live in south-ribble and we dont cover you" (I live less than 5 miles away from the hospital, but apparently, the stretch of water that devides our City makes all the difference). "You'll have to ring Ormskirk hospital and make an appointment there". I thought I'd misheard her so I asked her to clarify "Ormskirk?" I quized "yes, Ormskirk"... "You mean Ormskirk thats 20 miles away from where I live?" "Yes, I'm sorry, but Chorley (10 miles away) and Ormskirk alternate each week those are the rules, theres nothing we can do about it". I asked the nurse if she thought it was a little strange that I was going to have to go to a hospital almost in another county. She replied stating she had no opinion on the matter. I then asked her would I be seen at Preston if I decided to leave home and go and stay at my mums house (within the catchment area) Obviously, this did not compute and she just responsed "you'll have to ring Ormskirk"

So... instead of a 5 minute journey across the bloody river into Preston, I had to take a near 40 minute drive towards Liverpool to the emergency dentist at Ormskirk to get a prescription for some penicillin.... and to top it all off, the anti-biotics are working nicely and half of my face looks like it belongs to a hamster...great.

Luckily, got some OAP chums coming up to stay tonight and we're going out to see the radio 4 comedy show "I'm sorry I haven't a clue" recorded at my favourte theatre The Lowry tonight which should take my mind off it.... now whats that about not drinking when you're taking medication????

You see, this is what happens when you let a half-life player near a case mod.

I'm sure I'm not the only person to have seen the McDonalds ads for their new chicken mcnuggets now made with 100% chicken breast and gone away wondering "what did they make them out of before then?"

Well, its a particularly slow Friday afternoon so I thought I'd go and read some of the confessions that people make (anonymously) at notproud.com. Its an interesting proposition, a site where you can confess to more or less anything, just to get it off your chest. Amongst the "I slept with my sisters husband" and "I still wet the bed" entries was this one, which for some reason had me almost creased up on the floor with laughter...

"I fried tofu in bacon fat." ....Brilliant

I'm not often affected a great deal by things that go on around me, however, recent events involving Nick Berg and then this winning photo from the world press photo of the year competition just leave me thinking "I really wish people would stop being bastards to each other..."
