Is That It?
Well, no, one day, I hope to break free from the bonds of having a day job and spend my time
floating round the med,
knocking up the occasional track for a cool label. Till then, this is my only outlet for
my compositions.
If you like Progressive tracks with nice breaks, you might like to listen you my latest, finished creation...well,
actually, its my only
*finished* creation, Celestial.
Download the MP3, Or stream
it.
The excellent vocals (in case you're wondering) were taken
from a track by Loreena
McKennitt called 'The Mystics Dream'.
One of the problems I have is actually finishing a track... No stamina y'see ;) I've got round this (sorta) by
stuffing all my unfinished
tracks into
Acid and creating one long mix. Whilst unfinished, they also represent the best stuff I've produced to
date...without sounding
self-congratulatory, its easily as
good as any of the other mixes...but just pure, homegrown Roguetrooper. Enjoy...(and play loud) Clicky Streamy Clicky downloady
The track I'm working on at the moment is a bit of a departure
for me. Normally I don't like long intros, but the beginning
to Gravity developed into this dark, broody soundscape. Its
a full 4 mins till any proper percussion kicks in which sounds
a long time, but its just right for the track (currently running
at 12 mins). Anyway, you can Stream the MP3 hopefully...
or download it(11Mb)
Heres what happens when you use Acid Pro as an mp3 sequencer..nearly an hour of beats n breaks.
Have a listen to Methodical or download it.
Want some more? heres another with Leftfield and
Hybrid (to mention a few). You
can download this too if you like.
Think I'm going to have to find a more permanent home for the mixes and stuff. judging by the amount of stuff I'm
churning out of the
Triton... Anyway, heres the Adam Freeland stuff mix from below on the blog...nice trancy, break filled mix that
hardens
somewhat towards the end when Joujouka arrive..However, its still only 135BPM and doesn't disrupt the flow too
much... Same as usual, you
can stream it or
download it...beware though, its
20Mb. Sounds best about
4am Sunday morning. Enjoy.
I was looking through my mp3 collection the other day and came across some depeche mode stuff I never realised I
had. Perfect excuse to
mix a few tracks up in acid and give the Basildon boys a breakbeat flavour. Its still a work in progress at the mo,
but I've since discovered
that DM and Breaks were made for each other. Have a listen and you'll hear what I mean. Download or Stream

I've got round to uploading most of the photos from Reykjavik now which can be found here. Theres no descriptions for them yet, I might rope Wendy in to do that as my memory is like a sieve at the moment.
In an uncharacteristic move that probably signifies my enrty into adult maturity (pauses for long, lamenting sigh) I listened to the Today programme on Radio 4 this morning, specifically their interview with Greg Dyke, the ousted BBC Director General. Whilst I'm not the beebs biggest fan, its easy to see that people really liked him and he was doing a great job. Once again, Tim at Bloggerheads is well ahead if the field and has come up with this article about why the guy who (Dead Ringers) Phil Cornwell does so well in a Michael Caine sort of way was so important to British culture.
Well, heres the first pic from our trip to iceland that I've uploaded. Still got to tweak the colour and saturation, but considering that the original image was just pitch black, I'm quite pleased with the result :)Aurora Borealis near Reykjavik
Well, we're back from Iceland, what a weekend! I'm going to sift through all the photos before I post anything about it, in the mean time, heres an answer to the question 'Can you worship and eat at the same time?'Cheesus Industries - Home of Cheddar Cheesus

Right, I'm repenting my evil, non-blogging ways and kicking off with a short, non-fiction work entitled "3 months in the life of Alex...with some bits about his mum and dad....and some other people as well."
I suppose I should do this chronologically, so I'll start with the proud moment when Alex pointed to me and said "Da-Da".....Ok, I know it was only last week, but it was a lovely moment. Most of the time, the boy never stands still long enough to point at anything, not when theres furniture to be climbed, stairs to slither down, cats to chase, Computers to switch off, cupboards to open, washing machines to empty...snot to expel (I think you get the picture). He seems determined to disprove the statement that you can't run before you can walk. Probably the boundless energy he gets from eating bananas, of which he eats a disturbing amount (when you consider they could be an extinct fruit in the non too distant future).
We had a great Christmas at Chateau Rogue. We picked up the photos we had done with Venture Portraits at the beginning of December and they're fantastic. Firstly because theres only one with me on it, and also because, well, have a look and see what you think. Heres one of Jessica One of Jessica and Alex and one of Wendy and Alex
Against my better judgement and terrible feelings of guilt, Wendy bought me the Roland MC-909 and its fantastic, more about that when I have time though.
Finally, its Wendys birthday next week, so to celebrate, we thought we'd pop over to Iceland for a long weekend this weekend. Cant wait!
Well, normal service is about to resume now that I've actually got some free time, to get the ball rolling, heres the Google Zeitgeist so you can gasp with wonder at the most popular things googled...in 2003
