Whats it all about then?

Basically, its another collection of pointless links mostly nicked from other blogs

Is That It?

Well, no, one day, I hope to break free from the bonds of having a day job and spend my time floating round the med, knocking up the occasional track for a cool label. Till then, this is my only outlet for my compositions. If you like Progressive tracks with nice breaks, you might like to listen you my latest, finished creation...well, actually, its my only *finished* creation, Celestial. Download the MP3, Or stream it.

The excellent vocals (in case you're wondering) were taken from a track by Loreena McKennitt called 'The Mystics Dream'.

One of the problems I have is actually finishing a track... No stamina y'see ;) I've got round this (sorta) by stuffing all my unfinished tracks into Acid and creating one long mix. Whilst unfinished, they also represent the best stuff I've produced to date...without sounding self-congratulatory, its easily as good as any of the other mixes...but just pure, homegrown Roguetrooper. Enjoy...(and play loud)

The track I'm working on at the moment is a bit of a departure for me. Normally I don't like long intros, but the beginning to Gravity developed into this dark, broody soundscape. Its a full 4 mins till any proper percussion kicks in which sounds a long time, but its just right for the track (currently running at 12 mins). Anyway, you can Stream the MP3 hopefully... or download it(11Mb)

Heres what happens when you use Acid Pro as an mp3 sequencer..nearly an hour of beats n breaks. Have a listen to Methodical or download it. Want some more? heres another with Leftfield and Hybrid (to mention a few). You can download this too if you like.

Think I'm going to have to find a more permanent home for the mixes and stuff. judging by the amount of stuff I'm churning out of the Triton... Anyway, heres the Adam Freeland stuff mix from below on the blog...nice trancy, break filled mix that hardens somewhat towards the end when Joujouka arrive..However, its still only 135BPM and doesn't disrupt the flow too much...
Same as usual, you can stream it or download it...beware though, its 20Mb. Sounds best about 4am Sunday morning. Enjoy.

I was looking through my mp3 collection the other day and came across some depeche mode stuff I never realised I had. Perfect excuse to mix a few tracks up in acid and give the Basildon boys a breakbeat flavour. Its still a work in progress at the mo, but I've since discovered that DM and Breaks were made for each other. Have a listen and you'll hear what I mean. Download or Stream

Using your children as an excuse to have fun Part 1

Several weeks ago, it was Jessicas 10th birthday. At the time we were on holiday in Devon and had decided to do a bit of retail therapy down in Exeter. Wandering past the rows of shops, we happened across Exeter Model Centre. I tried to resist, but the lure of lovely model planes and RC buggys was to much so we went inside. At this point Jessica still hadn't decided what to have as a present. As I wandered round, my eyes fell on a small, ready to fly RC plane...almost instantly, an evil scheme formed in my head.

"Hey Jessica" I said "come and look at this" with her full attention, I proceeded to tell her tales of the wonders of flight and how much she would enjoy owning a flying a model aircraft. The plan worked and Jessica announced that she had decided that she would like an RC model plane for her birthday...Wendy shook her head and smiled... inside I was doing cartwheels like a 10 year old boy... I'm so ashamed.

Anyway, when we eventually got home, there was a defect on the radio control side of the model... Bloody typical. Here I was with a plane that didn't work from a shop nearly 300 miles away. I rang Exeter Model Centre who were very helpful and said they would be more than happy to replace it if I sent it back so off it went. Less than a week later, a huge, well wrapped box landed (hah) on the doorstep. I expected to see the same model that I had returned, but it appears that the nice peeps at the model shop take customer satisfaction very seriously. Not only had they returned a more expensive model (some £25 more expensive) but they had included a few goodies like extra batteries and a car charger... I was well impressed.

I was even more impressed when I took it out for a test flight the following day. I'm....umm.. Jessicas going to have so much fun with it ;)

Anyway. If you live near Exeter, and are thinking about getting into RC model aircraft or RC in general, I can highly recommend Exeter Model Center and the Ripmax Firebird XL Super, helpful staff and an amazing little plane.

I used to really like FSOL. Papa New Guinea is one of the anthems from 'my' generations clubbing days. I bought the Album 'lifeforms' many moons ago, lost it and recently discovered it. To my dismay, I found that a lot of the stuff that I once thought was revolutionary and groundbreaking (ta very much acid) is in fact just a very lazy attempt at..well...I don't know. It aint music thats for sure. Anyway, thankfully, over the years, peeps have remixed their stuff etc to make it reasonably listenable. If you like their stuff, but refuse to shell out for a CD that contains 50% garbage, then head over to FSOL.Disenchanted.com. Its an ftp site with loadsa bootlegs and videos for you to download and enjoy.
