Whats it all about then?

Basically, its another collection of pointless links mostly nicked from other blogs

Is That It?

Well, no, one day, I hope to break free from the bonds of having a day job and spend my time floating round the med, knocking up the occasional track for a cool label. Till then, this is my only outlet for my compositions. If you like Progressive tracks with nice breaks, you might like to listen you my latest, finished creation...well, actually, its my only *finished* creation, Celestial. Download the MP3, Or stream it.

The excellent vocals (in case you're wondering) were taken from a track by Loreena McKennitt called 'The Mystics Dream'.

One of the problems I have is actually finishing a track... No stamina y'see ;) I've got round this (sorta) by stuffing all my unfinished tracks into Acid and creating one long mix. Whilst unfinished, they also represent the best stuff I've produced to date...without sounding self-congratulatory, its easily as good as any of the other mixes...but just pure, homegrown Roguetrooper. Enjoy...(and play loud)
Clicky Streamy
Clicky downloady

The track I'm working on at the moment is a bit of a departure for me. Normally I don't like long intros, but the beginning to Gravity developed into this dark, broody soundscape. Its a full 4 mins till any proper percussion kicks in which sounds a long time, but its just right for the track (currently running at 12 mins). Anyway, you can Stream the MP3 hopefully... or download it(11Mb)

Heres what happens when you use Acid Pro as an mp3 sequencer..nearly an hour of beats n breaks. Have a listen to Methodical or download it. Want some more? heres another with Leftfield and Hybrid (to mention a few). You can download this too if you like.

Think I'm going to have to find a more permanent home for the mixes and stuff. judging by the amount of stuff I'm churning out of the Triton... Anyway, heres the Adam Freeland stuff mix from below on the blog...nice trancy, break filled mix that hardens somewhat towards the end when Joujouka arrive..However, its still only 135BPM and doesn't disrupt the flow too much...
Same as usual, you can stream it or download it...beware though, its 20Mb. Sounds best about 4am Sunday morning. Enjoy.

I was looking through my mp3 collection the other day and came across some depeche mode stuff I never realised I had. Perfect excuse to mix a few tracks up in acid and give the Basildon boys a breakbeat flavour. Its still a work in progress at the mo, but I've since discovered that DM and Breaks were made for each other. Have a listen and you'll hear what I mean. Download or Stream

Old Age Playstationers hit the big time

Central Station is the title of Sonys PS2 network gaming umm..central thingy. Accessed from your PS2, it allows you to do stuff like register gaming handles and contains loads of information about the latest releases and gaming news.

A few weeks ago, we heard that they might be interested in doing an interview with us (seeing as we're now probably the largest gaming collective in europe and all that) Anyway, they did, and heres what they had to say about us after a nice chat with our founder Kroy.

The joy of online gaming is surely the human element. But in this fast moving world, it's easy too forget that old people are human too. Some of them even like gaming. Really. This is why OAP - Old Age Playstationers - is one of the biggest team in the PS2 online gaming world. We spoke to one of the group's founders, who goes by the handle of Kroy, to find out what it's all about...

"I didn't realise how quickly it would grow," says Kroy, clearly pleased that old age hasn't got the better of him just yet. He reckons that OAP consists of "an army of doddery old folk", with about 5 new members joiner a day, and a 176 signing up to the website. Not bad going, considering all the fancy technology involved.

"Our old member is over 50, thought I suspect a couple of members have lied about their age in order to make them feel that there is still lead in their pencil," Kroy continues. "The average age of the group is somewhere around the mid 30s, but you only have to be 27 or older to get in. You only have to persuade us you are over 27 in a witty introduction and we we'll let you in to the inner sanctum of the bowling club."

So you don't need to be properly decrepit to get in on the OAP act - it's all about having a laugh with some like-minded gamers. Who probably have mortgages, instead of rat-infested student hellholes.

Thankfully, having a mortgage doesn't rule out the possibility of fun - at least not for OAPs. "We don't take ourselves too seriously," Kroy jests. "People have enough 'serious' in their lives already. We leave the serious gaming to the young 'uns. Come into OAP, and you can let off a bit of steam." Not a bad philosophy we reckon. They say getting old makes you wiser...

So, if you've found the team scene to be a bit too hardcore for your own tastes, you may well want to consider joining OAP. "Many other teams are about being the best," agrees Kroy. "So if you can't keep up with the pace, you lose your place. OAP recognises that it's members are unable to make that kind of commitment. Real Life is allowed to get in the way of OAP, and your favourite seat at the domino table will still be here when you return."

But that doesn't mean there's no chance for a spot of competition if you join the swelling OAP ranks. "We have four SOCOM teams of 16 members, and regular friendly matches against the other SOCOM teams," Kroy tells us. "If you play in a OAP game you are guaranteed a bit of chat on the Comms too, so it makes for some really enjoyable games, even if you die in the first minute."

It all sounds heavenly - not surprising though, since these old folk are all a bit closer to heaven. Kroy tells us that Midnight Club II has it's own following within the team and the beta-triallists in OAP are full of praise for the imminent HardWare. Everquest is all set to ensnare the goodfolk of the team too. "I don't see there being a cap to our member numbers at the moment, so I look forward to seeing some new members signing up after this interview goes live!" Kroy foams excitedly. Keep an eye out for the OAP tag online!

10 years ago today, my life changed forever when I became a father for the first time. I can't believe how quickly time has passed since then. I can remember the nervousness, the goosebumps, the instant surge of the most incredible feeling of love that hit me when I first heard her tiny cry. I remember conning the nurses into allowing me to stay with Claire (Jessicas mum) for about 4 hours after visiting time we could just lie and gaze at the little Angel we'd created... It was a great day.

Well, that was then and today, my little Angel is not so little. I know I'm a bit biased, but she's a lovely, intelligent, funny, kind young lady. Its an honour to be her dad.

Happy Birthday Sweetpea!

Oh yeah... Jessica's having a few friends round later on... Now as much as I have tried to steer Jessica away from the evils of pop music, I fear that the afternoon will be filled with dire chart songs (thank you Now 55...not mine, honest) accompanied by several bedroom J-Los performing dance routines that look they're trying to imitate cold custard sliding down a wall... If you feel any pity.. you could always tune into the Live Webcam Feed after 2pm and share my pain. 0_o....o_0..please

There has been a bit of a set too on the Sony forums in recent days about a beta triallist trying to get hold of Socom cheat codes for his gameshark... For those of you that aren't aware, SOCOM online has been virtually ruined in the US by people cheating (walking through walls and auto aim etc). The chap in question was caught 'red handed' on a SOCOM cheats forum and the ensuing Kangaroo Court / Accused trying to squirm his way out of it was highly ammusing. As a result, One of the OAP's (Lebowski) offered this Anti-Cheating code of conduct on our forum:

Right we should have a code of conduct relateing to cheats in oap games, as all the cutain pulin tv wipeing is getting out of hand. heres my first draft of article 1 relateing to viewing implements, please ignore the aufull spelling

all oap hereby agree to follow the terms and conditions of the following document, by joining oap you will agree to the terms and conditions of said article.

Article 1 tvs viewing options and the use of screens

no polish dusters or other implements may be used for the purpose of gaining a clearer screen, tvs over the regulation size of 32 inch are forbidden from play, wide screens are also banned as they stretch your target giveing you a wider hit area, the closeing of curtains blinds is strictley forbiden as is any other implement for bocking light, altering of brightness contrast is also strictley forbidden,

anyone found in the act of tv cleaning modiing for the purpose of socom play will be moaned and grumbled at and not much else

products that are strictley off limits include:

yellow dusters
Pledge
mr Sheen (and his shineing of umpteen things clean)
elbow greese
that button on your remote that flicks down the brightness
widescreen tvs

I'm so easily distracted sometimes.. I was supposed to be getting to grips with my new sampler card for the Triton last night, but somhow ended up looking through hundreds of photos and remembering the days when I honestly thought I had the worlds greatest job as HMS Gloucesters Gun Engineer... it was like playing with a supercharged, behemoth of an airfix kit that could decimate the baddies and crack open tanks for breakfast.

Looking back, there was definately a Steven Kings 'Christine' like dude-possessed-by-a-piece-of-machinery thing going on...I used to talk to it..which is quite disturbing now I come to think of it. Anyway, heres a pic of my baby doing her thing... With some others added in the just stuff gallery too...

Oh yeah, I figured out how to embed media player too... clever me.
