Basically, its another collection of pointless links mostly nicked
from other blogs
Is That It?
Well, no, one day, I hope to break free from the bonds of having a day job and spend my time
floating round the med,
knocking up the occasional track for a cool label. Till then, this is my only outlet for
my compositions.
If you like Progressive tracks with nice breaks, you might like to listen you my latest, finished creation...well,
actually, its my only
*finished* creation, Celestial.
Download the MP3, Or stream
it.
The excellent vocals (in case you're wondering) were taken
from a track by Loreena
McKennitt called 'The Mystics Dream'.
One of the problems I have is actually finishing a track... No stamina y'see ;) I've got round this (sorta) by
stuffing all my unfinished
tracks into
Acid and creating one long mix. Whilst unfinished, they also represent the best stuff I've produced to
date...without sounding
self-congratulatory, its easily as
good as any of the other mixes...but just pure, homegrown Roguetrooper. Enjoy...(and play loud) Clicky Streamy Clicky downloady
The track I'm working on at the moment is a bit of a departure
for me. Normally I don't like long intros, but the beginning
to Gravity developed into this dark, broody soundscape. Its
a full 4 mins till any proper percussion kicks in which sounds
a long time, but its just right for the track (currently running
at 12 mins). Anyway, you can Stream the MP3 hopefully...
or download it(11Mb)
Heres what happens when you use Acid Pro as an mp3 sequencer..nearly an hour of beats n breaks.
Have a listen to Methodical or download it.
Want some more? heres another with Leftfield and
Hybrid (to mention a few). You
can download this too if you like.
Think I'm going to have to find a more permanent home for the mixes and stuff. judging by the amount of stuff I'm
churning out of the
Triton... Anyway, heres the Adam Freeland stuff mix from below on the blog...nice trancy, break filled mix that
hardens
somewhat towards the end when Joujouka arrive..However, its still only 135BPM and doesn't disrupt the flow too
much... Same as usual, you
can stream it or
download it...beware though, its
20Mb. Sounds best about
4am Sunday morning. Enjoy.
I was looking through my mp3 collection the other day and came across some depeche mode stuff I never realised I
had. Perfect excuse to
mix a few tracks up in acid and give the Basildon boys a breakbeat flavour. Its still a work in progress at the mo,
but I've since discovered
that DM and Breaks were made for each other. Have a listen and you'll hear what I mean. Download or Stream

I don't generally talk about my relationship with Wendy (Mrs T), but today, I'm going to make an exception.
I think I must have saved the planet in a former life because not a day goes by where I don't find myself asking at some point, "what did I do to end up with this gurlie"... she is truly amazing.
She is the most selfless...and I mean *truly* selfless, thoughtful, loving human being I have ever met.
Y'know how sometimes you look through the windows of, say a car showroom and look longingly at something you would love to own, but that you know you will never be able to afford...Well, theres this keyboard, the Korg Triton Its pretty much the mutts chutts as far as workstations go.
Anyway, for some reason, Wendy asked me to take her into Preston to see the fabled thing that I'd gone on about so much... I didn't think it was a good idea at the time because every time I see it, I just want it even more... well, I used to.
Christmas, it would seem, has come early at our house and I am now the proud owner of a Korg Triton LE...
I ordered myself a nice new Mountain Equipment Sleepwalker III TDS sleeping bag from Cotswold Essential Outdoor a couple of weeks ago...which I *would* have slept in when we tried out the new tent over the bank holiday...It seems, however that my lot in life (as far as internet shopping goes) is to have stuff nicked from the carriers depot.
This time its City Link who seem to have a prolific pilferer... mind you, they're based next door to ParcelFarce in Leyland, so its hardly surprising.
Anyway, Jackie (Super Customer Services gurlie at Cotswold) sorted it all out and another one is on the way.... Hooray for people like Jackie.
Its been a quiet few days, blog-wise, mainly due the fact that I spent most of the bank holiday rebuilding the PC and re-installing stuff (more later). Anyway, some companys use games to complement an advertising campaign..and I can see the point to it. However, Nurofen Relief Racer II has got me thinking...Why????
I've just had a couple of days off with Jessica and decided on Monday that I'd get some more ram... 256Mb SDRAM £23 ... nip down to Scan in Bolton, no problems
So how the heck did I come away with an Athlon XP 1.7G, MSI 746 Ultra, Self-overclocking Mobo, MSI Ge-Force 4..oh and the ram... 512Mb DDR and finally a 350W PSU to replace the puny 125W I already had.
A friend of Wendys had just cleared out his dads house after he moved into a care home and came across this, which he thought I should have... Its in absolute mint condition, still works like the day it was made...and its just sooooo much fun. Poor SOCOM didn't even get a look in last night. Think we called it a day around 2am this morning when we decided that playing 'best out of 10' to resolve a tie-break was getting silly...and we'd run out of beer. Cheers Brian, now I own a piece of console history!
I thought I ought to take a break from SOCOM for a while, what better way to relax than mixing up a few tunes in Acid..This time its the turn of adam freelands stuff...enjoy.
As usual, you can stream it or download it...beware though, its 20Mb.
Huzzah! Wendys just rung me at work to say that my Network Adapter has arrived!!
Now all I need to do is drive up to Whitley Bay, pick Jessica up for the Easter Holidays then drive back (6 hours round trip) without getting pulled for speeding....nice calm thoughts....nice calm thoughts....
In the run up to the release of the next Matrix films, heres an interesting Wired piece about the revolutionary cinematography used in The Matrix Reloaded.
After trying for 3 hours yesterday afternoon, an hour last night and 2 hours this morning, I've finally managed to order my PS2 network adapter. My router should be here today.....so now we wait.....
Internet shopping.....modern wonder, bane of my life.
Its typical isn't it, I've been monitoring the PS2 Network forum for most of the morning when someone noticed that the Network Gaming section of the shop seemed to be live. Once your status as a beta tester had been confirmed, it allowed to go and order the network kit...no need to wait for the elusive email.
Before you could say "Lets get it on!" I was there, trying to create a shop account except every username I picked seemed to be taken...
I thought I'd give it five mins then try again, so I checked my email. Lo and behold, there sat 6 emails. 5 for the new accounts I'd 'created' and 1 telling me I could go and order my network adapter.
So, duly armed with one of my new account logins, I went back to the Sony online shop to find that the sudden surge of activity had caused the server to fall over....Feck!
So now I guess I just have to sit and wait till the server timeout goes away.
I think this is some kind of devine retribution for the time that we booked our flights to India on the net and never got billed, or last week when our internet groceries turned up for free. Bugger.
I have to say, I'm quite excited, and quite, quite sad. First thing I did this morning was check to see if UK Playstation had sent out the instructions for getting the network adapter kit.
In fact, with respect to gaming, I don't think I've been this excited since I was about 12 and we discovered that amongst Bosal's (an exhaust manufacturer) scrap steel was a whole skip full of blanks that were the perfect size for the Defender cabinet that had been recently installed at the local kids disco...
Anyway, I've been looking at the guides and lurking in the Network Gaming forum which is mostly full of people rubbing the noses of people who *didn't* get picked in the dirt and people moaning that they didn't get picked (which is an absolute travesty cos they've got the worlds fastest internet connection and are such hardcore gamers that they sleep with their PS2)...
I was trying to weigh up the pros and cons of the different ways of hooking the PS2 up and decided that ideally, I'd get a router. I wasn't over the moon with the idea as last time I looked at routers, they were about £100. Must have been a while ago as I managed to get one of these for under £50....
Now you'll have to excuse me, I've got to go....Its been 10 minutes since I checked my email... *it* could be there (:¬o
Wow! 10,000 visitors, what can I say except, you must be *really* bored and have absolutely nothing better to do.... ;¬)
Actually, you could do me a favour while you're here and listen to my track, Celestial, over there on the left, then forward it to that record label exec that you just happen to be good friends with....go on...you know you want to....
Normally, I don't like starting the Friday game-fest with a puzzle cos I'm no good at them, but this ones not so bad.(ie not so hard, but quite interesting) Anyway, till things get revved up, why not flex your grey matter by having a bash at Gridlock
Altoids, makers of the curiously strong mints have a flashy new site with a groovy retro feel, nicely done. Theres also an arcade where you can play billiards and pinball....
I had this dead weird dream last night where I was in a really old, dusty building where Telewests ISP engineers worked from. I was having a discussion with one of them about the fact that I couldn't FTP to the server so the engineer brought up a load of incomprehensable code on his monitor and after several minutes of scrolling came across what seemed to be the problem. Someone had added a comma in the wrong place at the end of a statement???..... I'd love to see someone analyse that one.
Want to do something to protest about the war thats actually quite good fun (in a schoolboy sort of way)? Come and have a look at bloggerheads 'Out Of Order' Project and join in (The cash machine halfway down and the parking meter at the bottom are mine....heh heh heh...)
