At this moment in time PARCELFORCE are a big gimungus bowl of crapola. Let me explain....
Wendys wedding ring was due to arrive yesterday..cutting it fine for the wedding tomorrow I know, but Fred at Furthers assured me it would be 10 days.
Anyway, the ring hadn't arrived yesterday so I emailed Fred who sent me the USPS tracking number. I went to their site, plugged in the number and this is what I got:
*OUT OF FOREIGN CUSTOMS, GREAT BRITAIN AND NORTHERN, September 19, 2002, 5:20 pm
*ARRIVED ABROAD, GREAT BRITAIN AND NORTHERN, September 19, 2002, 5:13 pm
*INTERNATIONAL DISPATCH, MIAMI AMC, September 18, 2002, 12:27 pm
*ENROUTE, September 18, 2002, 10:12 am, MIAMI, FL 33112
*ACCEPTANCE, September 16, 2002, 3:14 pm, ROSWELL, GA 30076
Pretty cool I thought.... But whats that? Out of UK customs on the 19th??? Surely it should have been delivered by now...
This is what the CrapolaForce tracking website has to say:
*Advised and on its way.
About as much use as a one legged man in an arse kicking contest.
Anyhoo, after many phonecalls, I managed to trace the package to my local depot who duly assured me that it had indeed been there since the 20th....though at present, they can't quite put their finger on its current whereabouts...
Great... what a shower of shite.
Thank god for 22mm compression olives.

Well, I tried the armour on. Turns out I'm about 4 inches taller than the chap who it was made for. Need a plan B.
Brenda, (one of the ladies who cleans the offices where I work) has been slowly trying to wear me down by suggesting that I wear a nice suit. Trouble is, its starting to work... she knows it and I know it. She reckons it would be 'such a shame to have your girls (Wendy and Jessica) dressed in such nice dresses and you...in your scuffs'...agggh. guilt trip...dead ahead!
Thought about buying one from Marks and Spencer on Friday then taking it back after the wedding on Saturday but Wendy gave me one of 'those' looks when I suggested it. Tsk, and there was me, just trying to be efficient.
Someone suggested a kilt, which seemed quite appealing at first... until I realised it was Brenda that put them up to it...
On a lighter note, I ordered Wendys ring the other day from these folk. Decided that titanium would be pretty cool.
This weekends mission...( besides getting as far out of my tree as the laws of physics and medicine will allow ) is to find something to wea.... hang on, lets get the priorities right. This weekends mission is to not have any recollection of events between 5pm Friday and 9pm Sunday...I'll get something to wear next Friday...

While nonchalantly browsing for pie related articles, I found this. About halfway down is a section about the worlds biggest pie.
A fine example of english piemanship.

Well....Hmm, heres the poll result, but I have a sneaking suspicion that someone might have fudged the result with an 4ut0m4t1k v0t1ng 5kr1pt thingy....
I'll come clean... my original plan was to do this, but the poll manager won't let you do it and I'm very much in coding nursery school and wouldn't have a clue how to.
My only option would be to swap the names round on the list..which would have been a bit obvious...
Unfortunately, the 'winning' name is my name... I'm not so keen on 'Andrew Jnr' so... in light of the mystery voter, I'll have to come up with a cunning plan to pick one of the remaining choices... I've got a garden full of snails at the mo, maybe I could rig up a Guinness-esque type race.... Any ideas?
Anyway, heres the result if you want have a look

3 Days to go on our 'Help name the baby poll' Weebl's way out in front at the mo so I'm hoping for a last minute influx of sensibility to choose something else or Weebl the boys name will be! Get them there votes in before Sunday. Once again, thanks for the fantastic response, I didn't know you all cared (sniff).

My Sex-Chicken Wendy is due to give birth to our first son next month, but we can't decide on a name. Can you help? (apols for the crappy lycos ads, but it was the quickest way to get a poll on the site)...
Poll now closed

Did you know...
What you don't know can't hurt you, until it does, but then you'll know it?
The expression "his name will be mud," originally referred to a man

I'm getting married on the 28th of Sept and I've really been struggling to decide on what to wear. I'm not really a 'shirt and tie' person, and besides, I think that wearing a suit to get married in would be the most boring choice ever....
Unless it was a Suit of Armour. Most of this week I've been trying to find one. Lots of companies will make you one...for about 2 grand, but finding one for hire was proving to be difficult..That is until I spoke to The Royal Exchange Theatre - Costume Hire Dept in Manchester. Turns out they have one that might fit. Huzzah and Hurrah!

Bloggers playing up...again, so theres a good chance that this post will appear twice...however... What an outstanding weekend I've had.
It all started earlier this week when I mailed b3ta to ask if they could help out with the problem naming our (soon to be) son. I didn't really expect much cos, by comparison, the stuff that normally goes in the newsletter makes my 'submission' look like nursery school stuff. Anyway, for some reason Rob (Mr b3ta) and Co who run the site decided to answer my plea and came to my aid like an (insert supremely benevolent simile of your choice).
Prior to this point I was quite pleased with the votes I'd had (100 ish) so I was totally unprepared for the response that followed. Its really made my week. The peeps at b3ta are tops! Not only did they deem me worthy enough to go in the newsletter, which is pretty bloody good in itself but they've made me look really cool to all my mates (for about 10 seconds or so) as well!
I would never have guessed that there were so many bored, poll hungry folk out there that I could accumulate nearly 4000 votes in 36 hours.
Everyone who voted rocks.. Xenophage was my favourite suggestion...'He who eats strangers' smart.
The only downside was that I didn't even think about putting some of my music stuff on the site until half of you had been and gone. And probably the one person who could have possibly been remotely interested in my tracks was among then... Rats.
Still, they're there now so hopefully it'll give me the kick up the arse I need to actually do something with it (after mucking about for 4 years). ***Flashback to when I was 12 listening to Herbie Hancocks 'Rockit' and thinking "Making music with computers....thats sooo cool, thats what I'm going to do*** In reality I ended up spending 7 years playing with probably the greatest 'big boys toy' in the universe as an RN Weapons Engineer maintaining aVickers 4.5" Mk8 Gun System...kickass!..but thats another story ;)
The next serendipitous event was, when I went to Sainsburys on Friday night to buy myself a copy of Stuntman for the PS2. To cut a long story short, It wouldn't scan through the checkout so the gurlie asked me how much it was... I said £38.99 (as advertised in HMV.. I don't know how, but she totally misheard me and keyed in £13.99. Not one to argue, I paid and made a swift exit. Cheers Sainsburys! Not a bad game either, in a Hooper / James bond / Dukes of Hazard sort of way.
Finally, today I've had the unenviable task of taking a heavily pregnant woman round Manchester looking for a nice posh frock for her to wear when she gets married to me on the 28th Sept. (I only told her I'd booked the registry office last Thursday so I only had myself to blame really. Anyhoo, lots of dresses later and no joy, we came home with Wendy tired and dressless with less than 3 weeks notice.
Feeling guilty, I said I'd take her up town (Preston) to have a look there. We were just about to give up again when a sales lady in Debenhams asked if she could help. Wendy explained her plight (being approx a size 18 round the waist at the mo) and like the clothes show AA, Ms Smedly, Debenhams Personal Shopper sprang into action. She took us to the personal shopping room... yeah, new one on me too...bit like a small living room.. and invited us to sit down... It was like ever blokes "shopping with your bird's" dream. Ms Smedly dashed back and forth with lovely satin gowns, and stuff, Wendy tried them on and I just relaxed, drunk loads of free Coke out of the mini-fridge and scoffed biscuits while occasionally nodding approval.. It was shopping nirvana.
Debenhams was the last place I thought we would end up getting something decent to wear from, but our heroine Ms Smedley delivered. Heres some pics of a happy Wen-D + bump with dress I took with my webcam (which (How Handy)I just happened to have in my pocket after using it to collect incriminating evidence while at my mates house on Fri night (you never know when a seedy blackmail campaign might come in useful). All bow down and worship at the foot of the Personal Shopper goddess... Yay for Ms Smedley!! Yay to b3ta for really making my day and finally great big fat Woos with a cacophony of Yays to everyone who took time to vote.
:¬0
Cack, I've just thought of something....I can explain... honestly.

Great Woos in abundance!! One of my most favourite audio tools, Acid Pro has recently been updated to version 4. It now includes VSTi and MIDI support. Unfortunately, Sonic Foundry don't like people linking to their site, so heres a link to a site called Don't Link to Us! who have a link to Sonic Foundrys site....confused? makes two of us?!?!

"Canibal fun for everyone" Not a spoof of the top film with John Saxon, 'Cannibal Apocalypse' as the name suggests, but a site that offers kits to make body parts out of jelly. Sounds fun? just take a look at the kids face...I think he means business.
